 National Family Caregiver Month

Join us on November 18th for a special webinar recognizing National Family Caregivers Month. Learn from Minnesota experts how local organizations and statewide initiatives—like Dementia Friends and Age-Friendly MN—are supporting, celebrating, and empowering caregivers of older adults and people living with disabilities or dementia. 

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Recognize the critical role and impact of family caregivers for older adults and people living with disabilities and dementia.
  2. Understand the goals of National Caregivers Month and learn how local organizations recognize, celebrate and support family caregivers.
  3. Learn from MN experts how to create partnerships with local organizations and faith-based communities to build their knowledge, capacity and programs to support and recognize dementia caregivers?
  4. Understand how MN is creating infrastructure and opportunities to support healthy aging and caregivers with Dementia Friends and Age-friendly MN, and Reframing Aging initiatives.
    PRESENTERS


    Beth Wiggins, MSW, LISW (She/Her)

    Family Means, Director of Caregiving & Aging  


    Beth Wiggins serves as Director of Caregiving and Aging at FamilyMeans. FamilyMeans provides caregiver education, coaching and consultation, support groups, in-home and group respite, and support for persons with a new dementia diagnosis or early memory loss.

    Beth has more than 25 years of experience in developing and administering community-based supportive services for older adults and their families. With a broad understanding of gerontology, family caregiving, community involvement issues and nonprofit management, she has provided leadership in a number of collaborative entities and multi-sector partnerships to champion aging as a positive and integral part of family and community life.

    Beth holds a BA in Psychology from Carleton College, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota.

    Natalie Matthewson MA, LPC,

    Central Minnesota Council on Aging (CMCOA)

    With over 30 years of experience in the human services field, Natalie has held a variety of roles, including Long-Term Care Case Manager, Brain Injury Day Treatment Center Director, Mental Health Counselor, Regional Adult Mental Health Planner, Community Development Supervisor, and Executive Director of a nonprofit organization.

    Natalie is a Dementia Friends Master Trainer and one of the lead trainers in Minnesota. In her role at CMCOA, she provides guidance and technical assistance to community organizations and collaboratives focused on improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers.

    Her career has cultivated strong expertise in contract management, grant technical assistance, strategic planning, public speaking, and project and community development. Natalie’s passion for supporting others in living happy, healthy lives has impacted individuals across the lifespan—from newborns to centenarians.


    Tuesday Glover MSW, CCHW

    Volunteers of America MN-WI

    Tuesday Glover serves as the Director of the Culturally Responsive Caregiver Support and Dementia Services program at Volunteers of America (VOA) of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

    Tuesday and her team provide culturally sensitive and relevant education, resources, coaching, memory and health screenings, mobile health unit, and numerous caregiver supports to the African American and East African communities. “Person-centered care” is at the heart of Tuesday’s mission.

    She received VOA’s National 2025 Boots on the Ground Community Health Leader Award for outstanding employees who exemplify VOA’s mission at the community level. Tuesday holds a BA in Social Work from Metropolitan State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver.
