Emma Shepard, MS Self-Advocacy Specialist
Emma Shepard, BA, MS, is a Self-Advocacy Specialist and certified Person-Centered Thinking Trainer® with the Minnesota Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care. With a master’s degree in Gerontology and experience across Minnesota’s aging network, Emma creates educational tools and supports residents and families in building strong advocacy councils.
Julia Lerner, MSW, LGSW, Regional Ombudsman
Julia Lerner, MSW, LGSW, is a Regional Ombudsman with the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care. With experience in nonprofit and for-profit LTC, TCU, secure MC, hospital social work, and nursing home leadership, she brings an insider’s perspective, brightness, humor, and hope to her work.
Jeanne Kolo-Johnson, MSW, LGSW Regional Ombudsman
Jeannie is a Regional Ombudsman with the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care. Her background as a certified ASL interpreter and advocate for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans shaped her passion for communication and empowerment. She brings a collaborative, problem-solving spirit, and always asks who made their crocheted blankets.
The Age-Friendly Care and Education Collection is a curated online library of educational, clinical, and research resources for educators, health professionals, learners, and others interested in improving care for older adults. This fully searchable collection includes citations and links to resources including geriatric competencies, clinical guidelines, education toolkits / modules, case studies, clinical tools, preceptor materials, patient and caregiver education materials, journal articles, videos, and more.
